I think I bought this plant at the end of February. It was an impulse item that I saw while in line at Grocery Outlet. They were smart to put the flowering plants near the registers. I had bought a big orchid for a friend and then I saw the little ones selling for $2.99 and could not resist getting one for myself.
Apparently, it thrived on neglect. I had left it in a dark corner and forgot to water it for months on end, then recently remembered it and gave it some water. It seems like just a few days later there was a stem with tiny buds and now the first flower has opened. What a lovely winter surprise.
Soon after, this one opened. A second stem is on the way.
