Well into my fourth month of grown-from-seed veggie gardening, I am starting to enjoy some nice results.
Since I don't have any areas here where I can plant anything in the ground, growing water loving plants in the dessert can be a challenge.
On these 95°F and up days, the tomatoes especially need to be checked for water every hour until shade falls on them. This is exacerbated by the fact that many of my plants are in pots that are too small and/or plastic. This is because I need to have everything in planters small enough for me to easily lift as I am carrying many of them back and forth from sun to shade.
Pictured are half of a green spaghetti squash, a Bush Baby Zucchini, pretty speckled leaves from red okra, three kinds of cabbage, mint, melon greens, jute, and a few beans and peas. I forgot to pick the edible chrysanthemum leaves, which are cut and come again, so the more I use the more I get.
