A very special lady who lived across the street asked me shortly before she passed if I would adopt her potted lilac bush.  It was about three feet high and spindly and I had never seen it bloom, but somehow I managed to keep it alive despite being away for months at a time. This year for the first time since it came to me in (in 2011?) it decided to bloom.
