If a picture is worth a thousand words, then maybe a funny picture is worth a thousand laughs.  Laughing is healthy and uberhumor puts new funny images, pictures & videos up on their site every day.  A couple of my cyberfriends send me funnies almost every day and it is nice to have a free service where I can go find things to send back once in a while as I sure do not have time to sit around all day thinking this sort of thing up.

Additionally, finding a site like this to tell you about gives me a good reason to post something here which I had not done in a while due to running around having fun in the summer sun.  Golf is great, but I missed my blog!

Watch out for some of what I would call adults only content on their pages, though.  They do have jokes containing words I would not use and some of the graphics are more explicit than the sort of pictures I would share. 

Watch out for the cookies, too.  I just went over to uberhumor a few minutes ago looking for FAIL jokes and the page knew I had been shopping for a pair of Nike zoom vapor golf shoes in the watermelon color.  Now that is getting rather personal.  But the web page that was advertising these shoes in that color was sold out.  I bought a different color for $20 more somewhere else. 

Emily has me Spoiled

When my GPS works, and it usually does, it is a wonder how I can go off in a zillion wrong directions and then get professionally and reliably rescued time after time when I am on the road.

But a person can get used to this kind of handling, and so I often think how nice it would be to have service that could "recalculate" not just the routes on my road trips, but  the whole direction I'm going in life. 

In fact, I do have a lot of software programs that lean in that direction, and increasingly over the past decades I have been able to consolidate more of that kind of activity into fewer but more powerfully and easier to use programs and devices.  In particular, I am now able to store more and more of my must have at my fingertips kind of data and applications online.  Now that smart phones are so reliable and so much more than just fancy toys, web based applications have taken on a new importance and meaning in my life. 

One reason I can indulge in blogging about this subject is that in the course of monetizing my blog I often run across advertisors who offer CRM Software and other services. I like posting links for these companies, especially when they indicate that they prefer in-post disclosure.

This also gives me a chance to bone up on topics such as core3crm and other things that are of great interest to me, but that lately I don't have time to study as much as I'd like.  So if you are looking for CRM Solutions or even if you are just interested in finding out what they are, thanks for taking a look at these links.

 

My Car Went Bump in the Night

Funny I should get a chance to do an in-post disclosed ad for an auto financing company just a few days after me and the ancient vehicle that I love to hate had a little misunderstanding about eighty miles from anywhere in the dead of the night.

This post is about Auto Title Loans.  I have never had occasion to try one of those, but unlike a gal I used to know who paid cash for a dozen or more new cars in succession, I usually do finance my vehicles...after I milk every mile I can get out of them.  But I do make sure there is no prepayment penalty on the loans and generally pay them off way early. But back to the bump in the night, it was a short in the ECM apparently caused by some moisture that got in there.  I was driving along, and all of a sudden the engine started cutting out and I was thinking "sugar in the gas tank?"  Then the headlights suddenly got brighter, and they went on changing from dim to bright intermittently and all sorts of other strange things were happening.  This was further complicated by a most unusual bright moon directly ahead of my path.  It was hard to stop looking at that moon in its cradle of eerie clouds.  After a while the engine dried out and everything started working right again.  Nevertheless, I went to the repair shop the next day and had them to a safety check.  It passed. 

Blame it on Henry!

That would be Henry the Eighth, who  needed a new way to tax the people.   So he invented probate.  

The history of probate is complicated.  In some nations of the world, apparently, the concept of probate did not even exist until after colonization by the English.  I believe India is one example.

It is hard for people in this century to grasp the significance of the fact that if you lived in Texas in 1825, even if the telephone had been invented, you could not pick up a phone and call an Austin Probate Lawyer much less research on the internet. 

Part of what made inheritance laws so difficult in mediaeval Europe as that there was no separation of church and state.   In feudal times, only the overlords owned any land in the first place and they merely granted their subjects the right to occupy the property in exchange for services.  Of course, the right was revokable at any time.  The ecclesiastical courts controlled inheritance.  Since all the clerics were men, women had no right to inherit anything.  After the church took its cut, the rest normally went to the oldest son.

In much of the United States there were not even any legal entities charged with administering probate in the western states until the middle of the nineteenth century.  Nor until that time were women able to effectively keep real estate holdings in any proper sense of the term, particularly not if they married. 

If a dispute arose, there wasn't any expert to ask.  I guess that possession was all ten points of the law then.
