Photos, Photos, and More Photos!

I love taking photos on a trip, but wow, sorting them out at home afterward can be quite a task.

Sometimes I have fresh ink cartridges available at home and decent photo paper on hand to print my own photos, but other times it is easier to pay a little and have an online photo printing company do the work and mail them to me. I have tried several companies and have been happy enough with the results.  The competition is fierce out there, though.  Recently I did a search for  123Print and Mr. Google brought up as the first "match" a sponsored link for another company.  Go figure.  I have no quarrel with the other company except that they seem to be suing everyone (they know who they are.)

I don't remember which photo printing service sent me a teddy bear with my  friend's painting on its cute little T-shirt.  But it was a good value. In addition to business cards, and notecards, and postcards, these companies that sell prints of your personal photos sometimes offer mousepads, notebooks, beverage mugs, and other kinds of merchandise that they adorn with your photos and/or artwork. 

The Fuzz, Part II

I mentioned having whizzed past a traffic cop yesterday.  That was a wake up call.  But an hour or so later, I came to a screeching halt for this fuzzmobile:

It is possible to drive along the roads in this area for 50 miles at a time without ever seeing another car on the road, but here in front of Roy's Cafe while I was driving one way and another party driving the other way, we both screeched to a stop and made u-turns and then pulled up along this vehicle in opposite directions to take advantage of this photo opp.

More synchronicity.

Where are the Clouds?

Clouds are one thing we really do not get a lot of in this area, so when we look up and see something like this, we come to a screeching halt and pull out the camera right away, before it disappears.

A New Word

MoBlogging!  I type really fast on a regular device, but this thumbpad is a new experience.  I may e-mail this blog a few photos while on the road, but descriptions will have to wait. 

Meanwhile, I've learned an easier way to get photos tweaked and inserted in email -- duh, why didn't I think of this before? -- just use the "E-mail Photo" option in Picnik:

Or if I am MoBlogging (there is that word again!), I cannot access Picnik from my Ocean smartphone. I can, however post to a TypePad blog using one of its mobile features, just by sending an ordinary e-mail with a photo attachment. The subject line will become my post title with the content of the e-mail showing up as the post itself. The photo gets embedded automatically, like magic:

Picnik is Really Fun

Today I learned about the free Picknik utility which facilitates posting photos to a blog by e-mail.Amazingly, all you have to do if your blog platform or photo gallery is supported, is upload your photo, apply any special effects, and then select save and share to e-mail it, as I have done here, to your blog or some other destination. 

Another thing I learned today, in connection with this is that it is, after all, possible to insert an unpublished  JPEG image into a G-mail message.  Hitherto I had though that only published images could be inserted.  Silly me.  Just load any image from your desktop into a browser tab or window.  Then click on the image and use ControlA to highlight it and ControlC to capture and return to the text line of your outgoing G-mail message and ControlV to pop it in.  Yes, the image is re-scalable.  Wahoo!   I generally use IncrediMail to send pictures, but it is great to know it can be done in G-mail too.

Don't know the URL for local images on your desktop?  Just type this in:  file:///C:/Users/

That will bring up an index showing your files and directories.  Another thing, although I have used Capture Professional for years for screen grabs, and more recently, Screen Hunter, our new computer runs on Vista, which has a screen grab utility built in.  To find it just click on your Start button and under All Programs choose Accessories to locate Vista's Snipping Tool.  Hey, but Picknik is easier and unless you upgrade to Premium, which I probably will, after all it is free.
