Ninja is a good name for my latest find, because it does a lot of fancy sword work on the stuff I need to mutilate in the kitchen. I have been a big fan of Magic Bullet products for a very long time. I used mine multiple times daily for years on end and have worn out 3 or 4 of them, but the last time one went kaput with company expected for dinner, I rushed out to pick up a replacement and found that none of the local stores had one in stock. A family member had mentioned the Ninja blender, so when I did see it on sale at Walmart for $79, I took a deep breath, shrugged, and took it home, feeling a little bmmed out, but willing to give it a try.
The hardest part was figuring out how to get the cover off the 40 oz bowl. I could see little white latches on either side of the base of the handle, but at first could not figure out how to activate them. Easy, you just pull the handle up and then lift the cover straight out of the cup.
While I was prowling around the internet looking for tips on how to get the lid off, however, I saw some negative reviews on the product. One said the blade was dangerous because it was too sharp. EXCUSE ME?!? Sharp is exactly what I want in a blender blade. One said it was more dangerous because the blade is removable. SAY WHAT?!? The fact that you can just lift the blade out and use the cup as a pitcher is one of the things I love about the Ninja pulse blender. It makes it easier to get all the food out and much easier to clean. Let me emphasize this, the Ninja is REALLY easy to clean.
The other gripe a few people had about this product was that the 40 cup leaked from the top when filled. That did happen to me once, but then I realized I had forgotten to close the spout. Duhhhh.
After that, no problem.
The Ninja Pulse System comes in black, white, and red. Although I normally avoid the color black in appliances, I bought a black Ninja because I was in a hurry and because I found a black one at an attractive price. There is lots of silver to brighten it up and the black surfaces are shiny, so that helps the appearance. More to come...as the sun just came out and I want to go play golf.
