Did you know that prior to 1953 the official name of the US Presidential Retreat was not Camp David? Franklin Roosevelt called it Shangri-La. Apparently he was taken by the novel Lost Horizons, a story that people seem to either love or hate. I loved it. In fact, I ALMOST downloaded "The World is a Circle" ringtone to my cell phone...how bizarre would that have been!
I guess what the concept of Shangri-La evokes most for me is exotic sound. An example might be the harmonic overtones of Tibetan Singing Bowls, such as those offered by Silver Sky Imports:
