Steamer Bags are not Just for Vegetables

Here is a new twist!  I started telling you all about a new use I found for those wonderful Glad Microwave Steaming Bags, when I realized that it would make a good Triond article, so I cut and pasted it into a Word file instead and submitted it for publication there. 

In a day or so, when I have the link, I'll post it here, so you can still read the article, but I will get paid for it.   EGADS!  Did I say in a day or two?  They sent me a publish notice before I even finished typing these paragraphs.  That is the fastest approval I've gotten yet and here is the link:

How Sweet is This!

I've read about sweet potato "slips" in several gardening forums, but haven't found a photo before that shows so well which end goes up and which end goes down.  So when this puppy sprouted in my veggie bin, I was elated to be able to keep it for reference and also to know that in a few weeks we'll have wonderful home grown salad greens.

Reynold's Handivac is a great helper not only in the kitchen, but in the garage, too, and all over the house.  I keep one in my suitcase, too, to use while traveling.

I'm not all that nuts about cooking, but when I do, I'm most particular about having high tech toys.  Here is a review I wrote for Associated Content about this inexpensive but extremely useful gadget:

Clip This!

You might say I'm addicted to clips.  No, not audio clips, but the many different kinds of fasteners that hold things together from mitten clips to the stainless steel clip that tops off the parachute string tether which keeps my PDA from falling hitting the pavement every time it falls out of my pocket.  This one, to be exact:

This is also the same clip that keeps my scarves from flying away when the wind comes up, which is why it has its own bling:

I like Pampered Chef bag bar shaped clips for the kitchen and hangers with huge colorful pastic clothespin shaped clips for hanging little things up to dry in the bathroom.    I adore those filing labels which have color-coded paper or plastic tabs you can write on and are attached to paper clips or filing tabs. 

But my current favorite clip is the ingenious Sock Cop, which rest assured, I use for many other things besides holding socks together:

I have some photos too.  They aren't as amazing as Norm's but the spectacular thing is I grew these plants.  Well, in truth, Nature grew them, but with a little help from me.  I watched!

My Little Green Babies

They go in easily, but how do you get them out?

OK, installing the pull out shelves in my kitchen cabinets was not all that hard, but first we had to remove some original recessed wooden shelves that were fitted into grooves in the sides of each cabinet prior to installation.  There was no way to pull the shelves out nondestructively! 

We tried different saws to try to cut through the shelves, but even if a saw would cut flat against the back wall, there was no way for anyone to get far enough back in the cabinet to safely try to do this.  Fortunately, however, the wood we were trying to remove was particle board, so we got out a large monkey wrench and used it to "nibble" out chunks of wood one bite at a time.  Remarkably, this worked.  We had a huge pile of chips and sawdust but at last the space was cleared.  The rest was pretty easy. 

So today we went back to the store and bought a Rev-a-Shelf large wooden sliding drawer for one of the upper cabinets:
